RESTAURANT REVIEW - La Suite West, Bayswater, London

We are delighted to announce that the recent auction held at Ascot Racecourse by Design Restaurants Lifestyle Partners, Coys of Kensington, set a new world record.

The Douglas Potter 1953 Jaguar XK120 Competition Roadster sold for a staggering £97,000 making a new world record for an XK120 in this condition.

Left to rot in a Surrey garage for more than 40 years, the XK120 was  expected to fetch between £15,000 and £25,000 at auction. Discovered by Coys of Kensington, the abandoned  XK120 Competition Roadster was supplied new in 1953 to a Lieutenant in the army, who sold it to mechanic Douglas Potter in 1961.

Experts believe whoever bought the Jaguar will have to spend between £50,000 and £100,000 to return the car to its former glory, but it would make a welcome entry to any forthcoming International race meeting. This car stands as a true testament to the original design and concept as available in 1951 and was one of the world’s top sports cars, literally putting Jaguar on the map.
