, London - West End
Overview
There is no restaurant to match Rules. Serving since 1798 when Napoleon was still striding around Egypt, Rules is the oldest restaurant in London. It has surveyed the reigns of nine monarchs and been owned by only three families. Rules specialises in classic game cookery and owns an estate in the High Pennines. Its tables have always been crowded with the greats – Dickens, Thackeray, Galsworthy, H G Wells, Waugh, Greene, Le Carré, Henry Irving, Olivier, Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel, Charles Laughton, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin and John Barrymore to name but a few.
